SA Greens Call for Publicly Accessible Green Space for Kent Town Residents

The SA Greens have called upon the Malinauskas Government to acquire a vacant lot in Kent Town to provide a publicly accessible park for the local community.

The lot is currently owned by the Commonwealth Government and is a former Bureau of Meteorology site.

This call follows community concerns that Kent Town is the only suburb in the Norwood Payneham St Peters Council to not have a public green space.

We know that green spaces have a positive strong impact on our social, physical, and mental health and wellbeing, and they help mitigate some of the negative impacts of urbanisation. The residents of Kent Town deserve a green space.

‘Scientific evidence shows that spending time in green space can strongly protect against depression, anxiety and stress-related issues. Kent Town is the only suburb in the entire council that does not have access to these spaces within their own community. The Malinauskas government can change that.
