Question: Digitisation of records

The Hon. T.A. FRANKS: Is the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs aware of the fact that the digitisation of these records has not occurred and that is what is largely restricting access? What is being done to ensure digitisation of the records?

That certainly was a matter raised when I personally met with the reference group. We are looking at not just how to do that but also issues of better access to historic records is the other thing we are looking at as well. I thank the honourable member for her interest and her up-to-date knowledge in this area.
