Greens Bill Would Ban Fossil Fuel Sponsorships at State-Sponsored Events

The SA Greens have introduced a landmark bill that seeks to ban fossil fuel sponsorships at state sponsored events.

Last year, the SA Greens tabled a petition with over 8,000 signatures demanding that Santos, one of Australia’s largest oil and gas companies, be removed as the name sponsor of the Tour Down Under, to prevent it from using the public event to ‘sports-wash’ its image.

If passed, the Greens’ Bill would prevent such sponsorships moving forward.
