I’m a passionate advocate for the arts and live music. In 2012-13 I lobbied the then-Labor Government to see our legislation changed to introduce small bar licences in the CBD for the first time. The one-year trial was a huge success, and the Government’s Liquor Licensing Review recommended extending small bar licences beyond the CBD.

Another win we had in this space came via a Greens’ amendment to the Statutes Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2013. My amendment to the Bill means that more funds raised from pokies revenue will go towards the live music sector. We know this sector has been adversely impacted by the introduction of pokies, and I am proud that this injection of funds each year will go some way to redressing these challenges.
