Blackwood Cinema will reopen its doors on Saturday, January 17 to screen the 1993 Australian comedy classic Hercules Returns.

A screen adaptation of the Australian live comedy show Double Take, the film has a cult following in Australia.

Proceeds from the night will go towards Jody Moate’s campaign for Davenport.

Greens MLC Tammy Franks said Ms Moate was a fantastic Greens candidate for the southern suburbs seat.

“Jody lives in the area with her husband and two young sons and understands the challenges facing the local community: issues like cost of living pressures, access to reliable public transport and the importance of community,” Ms Franks said.

“She’s also worked in the manufacturing sector, and understands firsthand the importance of this sector here in South Australia.

“Jody is a strong alternative to the two old parties in the seat of Davenport.”

Hercules Returns will screen at the old Blackwood Cinema, now known as Blackwood Memorial Hall, on Saturday, January 17 at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm.
