The Greens have renewed the call for a dedicated specialised service for borderline personality disorder, as part of the commitment to BPD awareness. This is a diagnosis that affects somewhere between 17,000 and 68,000 South Australians. There are major gaps in the service provisions throughout our state for this population, particularly in rural and remote areas. There are a number of Cross-Bench Members of Parliament who have supported the campaign and parliamentary motions in the past, in particular, the Hon Kelly Vincent, the Hon Rob Brokenshire and the Hon John Darley.
Tammy Franks MLC will bring a Greens motion calling for a specialised unit to be established, to a vote, on Wednesday 19th of October in the Legislative Council. You are invited to watch the debate which is likely to commence after 5.00pm, unfortunately, an exact time cannot be provided as business in the Legislative Council cannot be predicted.
